Legal Nurse Consultant
General Summary The Legal Nurse Consultant, Corporate Risk Management is responsible for minimizing corporate risk exposure by reducing claims against the corporation. This will be accomplished through education and training, providing a safe and secure work environment, managing claims efficiently, and evaluating policies and procedures that affect risk exposure. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Manage Claims Efficiently: 1. Supervise daily operations of corporate risk management including workers compensation. 2. Central repository for the reporting of incidents that represent risk exposure. 3. Evaluate risk exposure of reported incidents. 4. Report all claims that are warranted to insurance carriers. 5. Review legal files and create written summary prior to mediation or trial. 6. Attend mediations and trials to assist with clinical information and witness examination questions. 7. Coordinate all parties involved in claim procedure. 8. Review risk exposure levels set by insurance carriers. 9. Bring closure quickly and economically. 10. Maintain all files. Provide Safe and Secure Work Environment: 1. Work with Facilities Management to eliminate workplace hazards. 2. Monitor workplace injuries/illnesses for trends. 3. Develop safety programs. Requirements 1. Monitor incidents and liability claims. 2. Evaluate work histories and experience of individuals involved in incidents. 3. Identify areas where certified completion of training can reduce risk exposure. 4. Work with proper resources to develop and implement required training. 5. Educate corporate staff on how to handle liability incidents. Conduct regular follow-up training. 6. Monitor new programs for risk exposure providing input to reduce same. 7. Registered Nurse with current active license 8. Licensed Healthcare Risk Manager with current active license 9. Medical Legal Consultant designation 10. Extensive knowledge of travel nurse industry 11. Proven experience in developing and implementing training programs 12. Exceptional interpersonal and writing skills 13. Excellent organizational skills 14. Proven ability to function in a stressful environment and make proper critical decisions.
